How Does Kybella® Work?
Kybella® works because it contains deoxycholic acid, a molecule that’s already present in the body. This particular molecule is responsible for the breakdown of fats consumed in a person’s diet so they can be converted into energy. However, when this deoxycholic acid is inserted directly into the fat cells of the neck, it works to eliminate fat cells so that they no longer provide the appearance of excess skin. Additionally, once eliminated, the once fat cells can no longer produce other fat cells, so results are expected to last long term.
Kybella® Appointment and Recovery
Kybella® is an injection, so no surgery is required. It’s administered directly into the fat cells of the neck and/or chin. You can expect to receive multiple injections in one appointment. The number of injections may vary from patient to patient depending on expected results and the amount of fat surrounding the area. As far as sessions go, you can expect to have as many as six treatments. Recovery is minimal. You can expect to go back to daily activities immediately, and symptoms are typically mild and include soreness, swelling, and some bruising.
