Chemical Peels in Boston, MA

Don’t let the name scare you. Chemical peels are an extremely safe and beneficial treatment that removes dead and damaged skin cells to reveal newer skin with a better tone, texture, and color. Neem Medical Spa, led by board-certified internal medicine physician Dr. Rosy Sandhu, offers chemical peels in our Somerville location We also have a location in Winchester, and both offices serve the Greater Boston area. By using active ingredients from natural resources, such as glycolic acid from sugar cane, lactic acid from milk, and salicylic acid from the wintergreen plant, clients will receive a deep exfoliation to promote cell turnover and rejuvenate their complexion.

While chemical peels are an ideal treatment for people with damaged skin, the treatments are beneficial for everyone. The process does many things for the skin, such as lighten sun damage, minimize the look of fine lines, improve acne, and even the overall texture — all while giving you instantly radiant, glowing skin. Our expert estheticians will choose the peel that is best for your skin type and needs.

Except for the ZO® 3-Step peel, all our chemical peels are superficial, meaning there is no peeling or downtime, and you can return to work or your normal activities right after the treatment. A description of each is below.

Types of Chemical Peels Offered at Neem Medical Spa

PCA Skin® and ZO® peels can only be administered by certified aestheticians.

ZO® Stimulator Peel

The ZO® Stimulator Peel delivers ultimate results with no downtime, redness, or peeling. It is suitable for most patients and can repair sun damage, age spots, mild acne, enlarged pores, hyperpigmentation, fine lines, and wrinkles while stimulating collagen production and improving skin texture. By combining salicylic acid, lactic acid, and citric acid, the Stimulator Peel removes dead skin cells and promotes cell turnover, resulting in brighter, clearer skin with fewer imperfections. For the best results, we suggest four to six treatments scheduled three to four weeks apart, though improvement is visible after one treatment.

ZO® 3-Step Peel

The ZO® 3-Step Peel is stronger than our other peels and targets moderate to severe melasma, acne, fine lines, rough texture, large pores, and dullness. This highly effective peel provides skin renewal and stimulation by utilizing a blend of exfoliants, retinol, and multi-action agents to significantly improve skin health and appearance. In the first step of the treatment, a combination of salicylic acid, trichloroacetic acid (TCA), and lactic acid are combined to exfoliate the skin. Next, retinol cream is applied to improve the skin’s ability to repair, renew, and protect itself. In the third and final step, a calming cream is applied to minimize irritation and provide antioxidant protection during healing. The three-step process produces longer lasting results than other peels. Patients will experience moderate peeling for five to seven days. Some may repeat the peel every four to 12 weeks for deeper repair.  The ZO® 3-Step Peel is suitable for all skin types.

PCA Peel with Hydroquinone

This formula is for those who want an even skin tone and have no sensitivity to the depigmenting agent hydroquinone. The PCA Peel with Hydroquinone is ideal for correcting melasma, sun damage, and pigment discolorations of any kind. In addition, this peel will inhibit active acne and correct post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation (brown-spotting) from breakouts. If you have an olive or darker skin tone, we suggest using the PCA Peel Hydroquinone Free.

PCA Peel Hydroquinone Free

This hydroquinone-free PCA peel is ideal for more sensitive skin types, ethnic skin, or those allergic to hydroquinone. This peel will help to unclog pores, clear acne and rejuvenate the skin. It is also an excellent choice for maintaining even pigmentation and correcting pigment discolorations for those with hydroquinone sensitivities.

PCA Peel with Hydroquinone & Resorcinol

This peel is the most potent formula of the PCA peel treatments. It will provide more exfoliation for oilier, thicker and resilient skin types. It is effective on extremely sun damaged and thickened skin, and is also excellent for those with active/cystic acne and asphyxiated skin (dry on the surface, oily underneath).

PCA Sensi Peel

The Sensi Peel is formulated as a unique peeling option for all patients, including those with highly sensitive skin. This gentle 6% TCA solution will improve surface texture and brighten the skin while helping to promote an even skin tone. The multi-faceted and skin-brightening treatment is an excellent option for sensitive skin.
