What Are PDO Thread Lifts?

Polydioxanone (PDO) threads are similar to what is used for sutures during medical procedures. Our PDO Thread Lift ignites collagen stimulation processes within your skin to add volume and support. This technique can improve sagging on the face and body precipitated by aging or weight loss. To see results, you may need only one PDO Thread Lift treatment initially. You may need follow-up treatments after 2 – 3 years. It may take up to six months to see the final result via your body’s natural healing process.

The PDO Thread Lift is another type of minimally invasive, in-office procedure used by Dr. Sandhu to recontour your mid-face by lifting the deeper layers of your skin for a more youthful appearance. Once threaded into your face, the unique PRO Thread Lift sutures will naturally be absorbed by your body over time and induce the production of collagen to aid in healthy skin renewal.

Am I a Candidate for a PDO Thread Lift?

Thread lifts, no matter which one you select or how many you need for the treatment to work, can be a remarkable solution for patients who seek a younger appearance, want to avoid surgery, and currently have loose facial skin and/or facial folds. As long as these criteria are met, the procedure can be customized to meet the patient's unique needs, allowing them to enhance the overall appearance of their face.

How Do PDO Threadlifts Work?

PDO Thread Lifts
In 45 minutes at any Neem Medical Spa, you can make a dramatic impact on your facial skin. Dr. Sandhu can administer a local anesthetic in the treatment areas to keep you comfortable. All PDO threads are prepared in needles that are preloaded with a polydioxanone suture, which is then injected into the skin. After Dr. Sandhu marks your skin for precise placement, the sutures are placed through the tissues of the face and neck and pulled to reposition the skin. This will provide lift and support. These sutures are some of the safest materials that can be implanted in the body, and they are actually also used for cardiothoracic surgery or open-heart surgery. The skin absorbs the sutures, and they dissolve within 4 – 6 months. During that time, collagen is produced by the body, which helps to repair skin, as well as lift and tighten it. If there are leftover threads from the treatment, then they will be cut off.

You may see an immediate lift after the treatment, but there is also a gradual improvement over time. Your optimal results will be visible a few months following the procedure. Fortunately, there is no downtime required for our PDO Thread Lifts, but you may experience some tenderness, bruising, and swelling afterward for up to three days.

What Can I Expect from a PDO Thread Lift?

Results from the procedure will be noticeable immediately. There is very little downtime or recovery associated with the treatment, though there may be some light swelling and/or soreness for the first few days. However, these side effects are completely normal and should subside on their own. We also suggest patients refrain from heavy exercising, as well as entering a sauna or steam room for about two weeks. During this time, it's also recommended not to undergo dental treatment or anything else that might require the constant opening and closing of the mouth. About 1 – 2 months after the procedure, patients can expect to see their final results.
